Intake and Initial Appointment

The first step in the treatment process is the accurate assessment and identification of the emotional and behavioral problems that the client is experiencing, treatment goals, and specific treatment recommendations. Dr. Gleacher uses a combination of interview, and self- and parent-report measures. In addition, Dr. Gleacher may, with permission, obtain relevant information from other individuals, service providers or school personnel.

Individual Treatment

Dr. Gleacher believes in setting appropriate and realistic treatment goals on an individual basis with each client and family. Each client’s treatment is uniquely matched to their specific needs and goals. Individual psychotherapy sessions are 45 minutes in length. Dr. Gleacher uses evidence-based techniques and her expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).  Treatment might include gradual exposure to feared situations, social skills training, skills to increase emotional self-regulation, assestiveness training, anger management, effective communication skills, and working with parents to effectively enforce rules, increasing compliance, and decrease family discord.
